House Martins, delichon urbica, flirting around possible nesting location under the roof of a shed.
A small group of house martins tries out the wall as possible nesting place under the roof of a shed opposite my window. They try to hang against the wall, inspect the wall, interact lively with each other. During the day they even scrape away some small bits of the wall and put first patches of mud against it. At the other side of the shed house martins also start nesting. During the following week the proces continues. Slowly a nest is appearing build of the added patches of mud. It is not sure yet of which swallows the pair will consist in the end. After 5 days there is still bickering going on about who will wair up with who.
